About the journal
For more than 100 years, The Auk has published original reports on the biology of birds. As one of the foremost journals in ornithology, The Auk presents innovative empirical and theoretical findings. Topics of articles appearing in The Auk include the documentation, analysis, and interpretation of laboratory and field studies, theoretical or methodological developments, and reviews of information or ideas. Authors are encouraged to consider the relevance of their conclusions to general concepts and theories and to taxa in addition to birds. The Auk also provides reviews of recently released books that are of significance to ornithologists.
Instructions to Authors
Electronic Submission of Manuscripts to The Auk:
As of June 2003, all submissions to The Auk must be made online using Rapid Review ( http://www.rapidreview.com ). Authors will be asked to register the first time they enter the site. After they've received their password and login ID, authors can proceed to upload their manuscripts through an easy, step-by-step process. For more information on using Rapid Review, new authors should view Instructions for New Authors for Using Rapid Review . Rapid Review serves as the means through which The Auk's editorial staff communicates with authors, editors, and reviewers electronically. It also functions as the platform for the review process. Rapid Review has enabled a more streamlined review and publication process by centralizing all files and communications online. Reviewers, authors, and editors need only have web access, anywhere in the world, to access files and track manuscripts, communicate with each other, and perform tasks associated with the journal. Questions concerning the system may be directed to the editorial staff at auk@uark.edu . Manuscripts can be submitted through Rapid Review's homepage .
