Submission Guidelines, Athletic Therapy Today
Mission
Athletic Therapy Today (ATT) publishes articles pertaining to professional practice, sports health-care techniques, useful experiential knowledge, and practical applications of research findings. It does not publish research reports but instead focuses on insightful reviews of current issues, how-to articles, and other professional information that will enable athletic trainers and therapists to better serve their clients and stay aware of trends in the field.
Format
Manuscript: Manuscripts must be double-spaced with 12-point font size and 1-in. margins. Text (not including title page, figures, tables, and references) should not exceed 8 pages. Publication priority will be given to concisely written, highly focused manuscripts consisting of 800?200 words (3? pages). Submission of work via e-mail as a Microsoft?Word attachment is strongly preferred and will facilitate the speed of the review process.
Title Page: The title page should include the title of the manuscript, at least 3 key words that are not included in the title, and 3 or 4 "key points" in the form of short sentences (each preferably 12 words or less). The name(s) of the author(s) should not appear on the title page.
Text: The text of the manuscript should include one or two introductory paragraphs that establish the purpose and importance of the article, and the content that follows should be organized by headings and subheadings. A summary section should be included.
References: Key references should be cited (using AMA style), but long reference lists are strongly discouraged. References should be numbered consecutively, using superscripted Arabic numerals in the text, in the order in which they are cited
Figures and Tables: Submissions should include graphic elements (i.e., photos, diagnostic images, line drawings, charts, or tables). Figures and tables should be identified in the text of the manuscript by consecutive Arabic numerals. If the manuscript is submitted electronically as a Word document, all figures and tables should be inserted into the document after the references, and each should have a brief caption. Each graphic element should also be provided in separate electronic files, with filenames that correspond to the numbered text references. JPEG (.jpg) or TIFF (.tif) files should be 300 dpi resolution at full size for photos, 600 dpi if scans of line art. Electronic files are strongly preferred, but postal delivery of photographs and printed copies are acceptable.
Author Info: In a separate electronic file (or on a separate page), provide the following information: title of the manuscript; author name(s), including middle initials; author credentials; author postal address(es); lead author e-mail address and phone and fax numbers, and a brief biographical background (~30 words) for each author, including position titles and institutional affiliations.
Permissions
If you use material from another source (table, figure, or quote of over 200 words), you must obtain written permission from the original publisher. Note that if a fee is charged, it will be your expense. Include a copy of the permission when submitting your article.
Submission
The title page, text, reference list, and all figures and tables should all be contained in a single Word file, which should be sent to ATT@utc.edu . If you cannot submit electronically, mail 3 copies of your manuscript to

Review Policy
The editor and at least 2 reviewers evaluate each manuscript. Manuscripts that do not exceed 4 pages of text might receive expedited review for possible publication in a regular column. Longer manuscripts will receive consideration for publication as full-length articles, but condensation of content to 4 pages might be recommended for publication in the column format. A topic that cannot be adequately addressed by a 4-page manuscript might be approved for publication as a full-length article if there is a consensus among the reviewers and editor that its content is clinically relevant and accurate and that its presentation is grammatically correct and clearly understandable. Alternatively, a manuscript longer than 4 pages might be approved for publication as a 2-part column. A manuscript submitted to ATT must not be submitted to any other journal while under review. When a manuscript is accepted for publication, an ATT editor (editor-in-chief, associate editor, or column editor) will work with the author to improve the presentation of the work. ATT reserves the right to edit all content to fit space restrictions.
Copyright
Authors of manuscripts accepted for publication must transfer copyright to Human Kinetics Publishers, Inc. A transfer of copyright form will be sent to you from Human Kinetics along with galley proofs before publication. If a manuscript submission contains any previously published material (i.e., table, figure, or quote of more than 200 words), the author(s) must obtain written permission from the original publisher and accept responsibility for any associated fees. Documentation of permission to reprint the material ideally should be obtained before submission and must be received by Human Kinetics before the work can be published.
