About the journal

Algebra is a common language for many scientific domains. In developing this language mathematicians prove theorems and design methods which demonstrate the applicability of algebra. Using this language scientists in many fields find algebra indispensable to create methods, techniques and tools to solve their specific problems.

Applicable Algebra in Engineering, Communication and Computing will publish mathematically rigorous, original research papers reporting on algebraic methods and techniques relevant to all domains concerned with computers, intelligent systems and communications. Its scope includes, but is not limited to, vision, robotics, system design, fault tolerance and dependability of systems, VLSI technology, signal processing, signal theory, coding, error control techniques, cryptography, protocol specification, networks, software engineering, arithmetics, algorithms, complexity, computer algebra, programming languages, logic and functional programming, algebraic specification, term rewriting systems, theorem proving, graphics, modeling, knowledge engineering, expert systems, and artificial intelligence methodology.

Purely theoretical papers will not primarily be sought, but papers dealing with problems in such domains as commutative or non-commutative algebra, group theory, field theory, or real algebraic geometry, which are of interest for applications in the above mentioned fields are relevant for this journal.

On the practical side, technology and know-how transfer papers from engineering which either stimulate or illustrate research in applicable algebra are within the scope of the journal.

Instructions to Authors

Only original papers relevant to the scope of the

journal will be considered.Manuscripts are accepted

for review on the understanding that the same work

has not been and will not be either published or

submitted elsewhere and that all the authors have

given their approval for the submission of the paper.

All papers should be submitted in English .Four copies

of each manuscript to be considered should be sent to

the Editor in Chief .E-mail submission,in postscript

formular,is acceptable.Manuscripts must be accom-

panied by the ‘‘Copyright Transfer Statement ’’over-

leaf.

The .rst page of the article should include:all the

authors ’a .liations and the mailing address of the

contact author,a short but informative abstract and

the relevant keywords .The use of mathematical

symbols should be kept to a minimum in the abstract.

A running title (not to exceed 70 typewriter strokes,

including spaces)should also be provided.Papers

should include an introduction explaining the motiva-

tion for and background to the problem being studied.

Lists of programs should not be included.New

algorithms written in a high-level abstract language

allowing straightforward translation into program-

ming languages are acceptable.

References should be cited in the text by arabic

numerals in square brackets. The list of references at

the end of the paper should always be in alphabetical

order. This alphabetical list should be numbered

consecutively starting with 1.Any reference to a

‘‘private communication ’’should be avoided.When

a speci .c result presented in a reference is cited,

either the page or the section number must be given.

For styling of the references, the following examples

should be observed:

We welcome manuscripts written in TeX or LaTeX ,

particularly if the Springer macropackages Pjour1

and Ljour1 have been used (further details below).

For papers written in TeX or LaTeX without

Springer macros, the source .les can in many cases

be used, but Springer will decide on a case-by-case

basis whether it is more economical to work from the

author ’s .les or to typeset.

You may obtain the Springer macropackages

Pjour1 (for Plain TeX or AMSTeX)or Ljour1 (for

LaTeX)from our FTP server:

Please do not forget to include the important

information requested overleaf ().Make sure

that the .nal printed version of your paper is

identical in content to the electronic version sent.

Normally only typesetting errors should be corrected

in the page proofs.A charge is made for extensive

changes introduced after the paper has been typeset.

No later corrections will be accepted electronically.

Supplementary material .Data which is of primary

interest only to those readers who want more

complete data for comparison purposes, will not be

printed in the journal. This material be put on
