About the journal
The American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI) is the principal technical society serving the artificial intelligence (AI) community in the United States.
Founded in 1979, the association consists of approximately 10,000 industrial research scientists, knowledge engineers, computer science professionals, psychologists, linguists, cognitive scientists, academicians in related fields, and engineers. The AAAI leadership consists of the most significant names in the field of AI research in the United States.
AAAI was founded to encourage the basic knowledge of what constitutes intelligent thought and behavior and how it can be exhibited in computers. As a technical society, it is concerned not only with the goals of basic AI research but also with AI applications that contribute to an increased scientific understanding of AI. The association also promotes the free interchange of information about the knowledge of AI among specialists and the public in the best of scientific traditions.
AI Magazine is the official publication of the American Association for Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). It is published four times each year in fall, winter, spring, and summer issues. The magazine is distributed to the paying members of the association.
The purpose of AI Magazine is to disseminate timely and informative articles that represent the current state of the art in AI and to keep its readers posted on AAAI-related matters. The articles are selected for appeal to readers engaged in research and applications across the broad spectrum of AI. Although a moderate level of technical understanding is assumed by the authors, articles should be clear enough to inform readers who work outside the particular subject area.
