About the journal

Acta Montanistica Slovaca is an international scientific journal published jointly by the Union of Metallurgy, Mining Industry and Geology of Slovak Republic, the Institute of Geotechnics of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, the Slovak Mining Society, and the Faculty of Mining, Ecology, Process Control and Geotechnologies (FBERG) of the Technical University of Kosice.

 

Scope of the journal

 

Acta Montanistica Slovaca publishes high quality articles on basic and applied research in such fields as geology and geological survey, mining, earth resources, underground engineering and geotechnics, mining mechanization, mining transport, deep hole drilling, surveying and engineering geodesy, ecotechnology and mineralurgy, process control, automation and applied informatics in raw materials extraction, utilization and processing, and in other similar fields.

Acta Montanistica Slovaca is the only scientific journal of this kind in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe.

 

Since 1996

Founded in 1996, Acta Montanistica Slovaca is published quarterly, four issues each year. Starting from 2004 it is freely available on-line, including all issues since 1996. Starting with January 2009, the official language of the journal is English. In special issues on local Central European topics articles in Czech and Slovak may appear.

Instructions to Authors

Instructions for authors

General

Submit the text of the article in two printed copies and on a CD-ROM as a Microsoft Word 97/2000/2002/2003 file. Enclose original figures, photographs, maps, large schemes and one set of their copies; maximal size of original illustrations is 30cm by 40cm. Figures and schemes created with a graphics program must be available in a separate file on the CD-ROM. On the CD-ROM label write the type and the version of the wordprocessing program, as well as the file names. The total length of an article, including illustrations and tables to be inserted in the text, should not exceed 10 pages of A4 format. The editorial board reserves the right of publishing more extensive articles. The journal language is English. The author's declaration should include the name and surname, academic degrees, organisation address and signature of the author(s).

 

Text

Type the text with the single-line spacing. The typeface should be Times New Roman, size 10 points. The article should contain an introduction, analysis (state) of the problems, methods, results, discussion, conclusion and references. First-level headings should be centred and second-level headings should start from the left margin. Use at most four levels of headings. The position of illustrations and tables in the text should be marked with a pencil at the left margin of the manuscript.

 

Illustrations

Illustrations must be of high quality. The maximum size of illustrations, that can eventually be reduced, is 170 x 230 mm. Folded illustrations will not be accepted. Black-and-white photographs should be sharp, contrast, and glossy, and their reduction minimally to one half of original size can be desirable. A reference to each illustration shold be made in the text. Each illustration should be identified by its number and the name(s) of author(s). Captions of the illustrations ahould be written using font Arial, size 8 points, in italics. Colour illustrations will be embraced but unless paid for by the author(s).

 

Tables

Tables should be given on a separate sheet or incorporated in the text. Titles and possibly an explanatory description of the separate tables should be written on a separate page or should accompany the tables in the text. For captions use Arial, size 8 points, italics.

 

References

References should be listed alphabetically. In the text refer to the author's name (without initials), followed by the year of publication ( both in parenthesis), e.g. (Michalko 1993). If a reference is made in the text to a publication written by more that two authors, the name of the first author should be used, followed by et al. In the reference list, names of all authors should be given.

 

Abstract

The abstract should contain a concise description of the contents and main results of the article. It should not be longer than 80 words, including the title. The abstract should be placed between the title of the article and the name(s) of author(s). The font is Arial, size 8 points.

 

Keywords

A list of up to five keywords or key expressions should be provided.
