REVIEWS IN INORGANIC CHEMISTRY
This journal was instituted for the rapid publication of succinct, authoritative articles describing recent advances in inorganic chemistry. These may be quite short reports where authors discuss their own work in the context of the work of others in the field. Longer surveys covering the broader literature are also acceptable. The reviews will include all aspects of inorganic chemistry, such as solution chemistry, coordination chemistry, kinetics, organometallics, thermodynamics, electrochemistry, geochemistry, crystallography, and theoretical, nuclear and industrial chemistry. In this way it is hoped to provide interplay of ideas. Articles which develop new insights and which promote new research activity are particularly welcome.
As the recent trend to publish "synopses" of work becomes more established and there is a greater tendency towards deposition of scientific details on microfiche or similar archival storage media, direct access to primary information has become more inconvenient. Accordingly, the selective and critically written review article, with its extensive bibliography, must surely become even more important.
Our aim is to provide a breadth of coverage which will enable research chemists and students to keep abreast of the latest developments in pure and applied inorganic chemistry.
Instructions to Authors
INSTRUCTIONS TO AUTHORS
1. Manuscripts should be submitted to the Editors.
2. Only original reviews which have not been published elsewhere, and which have not been submitted to other journals will be considered. It is the author's responsibility to ensure that this condition is met. Copyright in published papers will be vested in the publisher.
3. All papers will be published in English, and manuscripts should be submitted in that language.
4. Manuscripts should be typed double-spaced on one side of A4 paper, with a 4 cm margin. Three copies should be submitted. It is preferred that the final version of the manuscript be accompanied by a copy on diskette (preferably Word for Windows).
5. The title should be brief, typed on a separate sheet, and the author's full name should be typed on the line below the title; the affiliation and address should follow on the next line; in the case of co-authors affiliations and addresses should be clearly indicated. correspondence will be sent to the first named author, unless otherwise specified.
6. A list of contents should precede each review.
7. Illustrations, tables, and footnotes should be supplied on separate sheets grouped at the end of the manuscript, with a note of their location in the text.
8. Each manuscript should be accompanied by a summary (maximum length 200 words) on a separate sheet.
9. Mathematical symbols may be either handwritten or typewritten. Greek letters and unusual symbols should be identified separately in the margin. distinction should be made between capital and lower case letters; between the letter O and zero; between the letter l and the number one and prime; between k and kappa.
10.In cases where computer programs form part of an article, they should be presented on unlined paper, with clear and sharp characters, so that the material is suitable for direct photographic reproduction.
11.Original line drawings should be submitted and should include all relevant details. Drawings should be twice the final size. The lettering must be clear and "open" and sufficiently large to permit the necessary reduction of size in photographic reproduction.
12.Each figure should be referred to in the text and numbered accordingly in sequence with Arabic numerals. The manuscript should indicate the points at which it would be most desirable to insert figures. All figures submitted should be identified lightly on the back, with the appropriate number and with the name of the author(s). Figure legends should be typed on a separate sheet and placed at the end of the manuscript. The amount of lettering on a drawing should be minimized as far as possible by transferring it to the legend.
13. Tables should be typed double-spaced, each on a separate sheet, and identified by Arabic numerals corresponding to the order in which they appear in the manuscript. A brief explanatory title should head the table as well as a title for each table column. Tables should not repeat data which are available elsewhere in the paper, e.g. in a line diagram.
14. References to published literature should be numbered consecutively in the text and listed in the same order on a separate sheet at the end of the manuscript. Each literature reference should include the author's initials and names, title of the journal abbreviated according to the Chemical Abstracts Service Source Index (CASSI), volume number in bold, first page number and year (in parentheses). Where the journal does not carry a volume number, the sequence should be: author¡¯s names, journal title, year in bold, issue no. (in parentheses) and first page number. References to books should include initials and names of authors, title of book (possibly preceded by title of chapter), volume number, editor, publisher, place of and year of publication, and page number. E.g.

15. Authors are requested to underline in red on one copy of their papers keywords for inclusion in the index.
16. It is the author's responsibility to obtain written permission to reproduce material which has appeared in another publication, and such permissions must accompany the submission of the manuscript.
17. No manuscript or figures will be returned following publication unless a request for return is made when the manuscript is originally submitted.
18. Twenty five reprints of each paper will be provided free of charge. Additional copies in multiples of a hundred may be purchased on a reprint order form which will accompany the proofs. Reprints will be sent to the first-named author unless otherwise indicated.
