About the journal
METALS AND MATERIALS International publishes original papers and occasional critical reviews on all aspects of research and technology in materials engineering: physical metallurgy, materials science, and processing of metals and other materials. Emphasis is placed on those aspects of the science of materials that are concerned with the relationships among the processing, structure and properties (mechanical, chemical, electrical, electrochemical, magnetic and optical) of materials. Aspects of processing include the melting, casting, and fabrication with the thermodynamics, kinetics and modeling.
Instructions to Authors
|
Submission of a paper implies that it has not previously been published in a journal and it is not being simultaneously considered for publication elsewhere. |
| Upon acceptance of a paper, the author(s) will be asked to transfer the copyright of the paper to the publisher, The Korean Institute of Metals and Materials. This transfer will ensure the widest possible dissemination of the information. |

Manuscripts should be typed double spaced on A4 size (210¡Á297 mm) or letter size (8.5¡Á11 in.) paper. Generally, the length of the manuscript should be the minimum necessary for clarity. Each paper should include a 100-150 word abstract and five key words for use in indexing. All papers should be written in English and SI units should be used throughout. The title should be carefully chosen to indicate as clearly as possible the subject of the manuscript. Description headings should be used to divide the paper into its component parts. |
| |
|
All illustrations should be submitted in a format suitable for reproduction in a single column (85 mm) of a journal page. Double column treatment will be used only when required by the complexity of the material. Because illustrations may be reduced in final printing, lettering should be large enough to be legible after reduction. Micrographs should always carry micron markers to show magnification. Illustrations should be numbered in sequence, and the captions should be submitted as a separate list. Color printing is available, but the author will be required to pay for the printing cost. |
| |
|
All references to other papers, books, etc. should be given at the end of the paper. They should be indicated in the text by consecutive numbers in solid bracket, e.g., [1,\<1/4\>2], as part of the text, not raised above it. References should contain the authors' names together with their initials, the contracted title of the journal, volume number, first page number, and year, as illustrated below. References to books should contain the publisher's name and location. For collected works (e.g., conference proceedings), the editors' names should always be cited. Reference to unpublished reports should only be made when no alternative published form can be located. |

After the acceptance of the paper, author(s) are requested to submit a computer disk (5.25" or 3.5" disk) containing the final version of the paper along with the final manuscript to the production office. Make sure that the disk and hard copy match exactly. Specify what computer was used and what software was used, including which release (e.g., IBM compatible, MS Word for Windows 6.0). Include both the text file and ASCII file, and separate table and illustration files, if available. The file should be single spaced and the wrap-around end-of-line feature should be used (i.e., no returns at the end of each line). Please send only hard copies when first submitting your paper |

Page proofs will be sent to the author for checking. Only typographical errors may be corrected. Any substantial alterations other than these may be charged to the author. All joint communications must indicate the name and full address of the author to whom proofs should be sent. |
